Here's how you get the cards from Vista Prints:

(1) Watch the website for the sale.  It's worth your time to bookmark the page and check it on your morning URL trawl because the Megasale only lasts for 72 hours.  Prepare two (or more, if you want more than 3000 cards made) designs based on their specs.
(2) When the sale hits, choose the option that lets you get 1000 cards for about $8.00.  Upload the first design.
(3) Do the same thing with the second design.
(4) Go to checkout.  They then ask you if you want to add 500 cards of either design to your order for $3.00 each.  Say yes to both.  Here's your 3000 cards, and you can do the same thing over and over again if you want more than two designs made or want a lot more cards.
(5) Choose the slowest shipping option for $8.00.  You'll still have it in 4 - 6 business days.

While you're doing this, look at the site for other special offers.  For example, I have postcards now because they offered 100 postcards FREE with my order, and I can increase this to 500 postcards for $5.00 with some of the same juggling steps I already mentioned.

Finally, you can repeat the whole process for the same amount because they send you the same offer in your confirmation email.  If you wait for your new cards to come in, they also provide coupons for 25% discounts on your next order.  It is possible to stack these offers if you are careful, so your next batch of cards could be $18.00 or so.
